Not *Brainz but Similar Projects

I know there’s always chit chat of this brainz project and that brainz project, and although they all sound great fun there is likely already similar projects out there.

I’m starting this thread for likeminded individuals to share other projects that might fill the void for some of these requests (even temporarily  ).

Rules are basic:

  • Must be available online
  • Data must be available to look at for free, preferably without any type of underlying account
  • Should be an open project allowing registered users to contribute data
  • Preferably stuff that is open source, but not a hard-and-fast requirement

I’ll get the ball rolling, for those who love big old TV’s and old school monitors there is:

A project to documenting all different types of CRT televisions and monitors.

For those who are really interested in old computer hardware, I present The Retro Web, an open database dedicated to documenting various old computer components and software.

I’ve been aware of many of these kinds of website over the years. Some that immediately come to mind are:
GIICM: The Giant Internet Integrated Circuit Masturbator (the name is the only NSFW part) (over 30 years old – not sure of current maintenance status)
The International Arcade Museum/KLOV Killer List of Videogames
(also over 30 years old)
