My weekly explorations didn't update this week

Hi there, I’m pretty new to this platform but so far I’m loving it.

This monday, my Weekly Explorations did not update, which is a shame because I discovered that feature last week and it worked perfectly.

How do I fix this please?

I am the same boat and I think others will suffer this too.

I really like both Jams and Exploration! With my 265k listens, they’re really quality playlists and fits like a glove for my music listening profile.

I even made simple React-Python app to convert jsfp to xsfp for Tidal import.

Hi!

The problems are ours – one of our servers ran out of disk space and that caused a knock-on effect that we’re still working to recover from. Sit tight, once we resolve the problems, we’ll re-generate the missing playlist. And soon we’re going to add two more servers to separate data dump generation (super disk space intensive) from the rest of the production systems.

And thanks for the lovely feedback about the playlists – when we first starting working on this we had a lot of negative feedback “recommendations will never work!”, but we kept pushing on. We ended up learning something important: Recommendations are not that hard if you’re actually not trying to recommend crap the user doesn’t want to listen to. (looking at you spotify!)

Nice to hear! I hope it will be quick… can’t wait to blast some new artists! This has become the place for me to discover new music and I prefer your algorithm over YouTube’s or Spotify’s. Last week alone i discovered my third favorite band thanks to this feature.

Looks like the playlists were generated shortly after I replied yesterday – should be all good now, I hope!

Hi Rob,

I can see that the created for you has updated as expected now. However in addition I have now had two playlists appear for 2023, I believe these was are a part of “Your year in music 2023”

This is despite the fact that I never had enough listens at that time for “Your year in music 2023” to make any suggestions

Should these two playlists above end up disappearing at some point or is the above unexpected?

In theory they should go away at the beginning of next year. If they don’t ping us again.

Hi Rob,
It seems that they have yet to disappear as expected. I wonder if anybody else is also effected.

I also have the same problem, I’m stuck with ‘Top Discoveries’ and ‘Missed Recordings’ of 2023. Not sure if it’s related, but my Spotify get populated with ‘new’ playlists, namely all ‘Top Discoveries’ and ‘Missed Recordings’ from all previous years. I don’t remember if I had them before and if I removed them from my account or not

Yes, me too. I even have the “2022 Discoveries”. Those were the times!

Same here. I had problems with this before, but in the last week of December i got my Weekly Exploration. Since then I got nothing else!

No updated Weekly Exploration / Jams since January 5th.

Due to some server issues last week, the playlist generation had failed. I forgot to a request new run for it after the issue was resolved.

However, this week things are running fine. Playlists have updated for most people already, except those in North American timezones which will update after it turns midnight there.

The discoveries and missed recordings playlists for past years were generated for all users afresh this year as part of the new Year in Music.

same here dude. Honestly i might just go look somewhere else because this is frustrating. Hope they find a lasting solution to this because I enjoy their recommendation algorithm

still stuck for me unfortunately. im in north america. unless you mean midnight today, im still stuck with the playlist from january 5th

I also still only have Jan 5th (North America, EST). Any idea of when to expect this week’s playlist? I had been thinking the past few times that I didn’t get one that it was due to lack of listens (new user, joined a month ago) but reassuring to find it wasn’t just me.

Mine updated 42 minutes ago.

Thank you for the update, Is it possible to get rid of the “Top discoveries for 2023” album that appeared after the problem occurred in December.
