MusicBrainz and Playlists

Can MB maintain playlists? I have well over 10k songs many of which no longer have metadata and need to be updated. That said, I am worried about losing song content in playlists. Yes, I am new to this!

Cheers,

In ListenBrainz you can create playlists based on MusicBrainz recordings.

In MusicBrainz itself you can also manage recording collections, which could also serve a a way to permanently store playlists.

Are you asking about using MBz to create/update playlists? Or about using Picard to tag files without breaking the playlists you already have?

I have nothing to add to @outsidecontext’s post about the former.

For the latter, I think as long as you configure Picard to update tags but not to rename/move files, you should be fine? I don’t use playlists myself though so I’m not sure. (Personally I want unordered sets of music rather than ordered playlists, so I use MBz folksonomy tags and put those into the genre tag.)
