MP3.com Dump Released on Internet Archive

Hello,

Who is responsible for deleting these “so-called duplicates”?

Many tracks have been removed that aren’t actually duplicates. Could you please provide the original download with all the tracks, including the duplicates?

Thank you.

I’m sorry I don’t understand your request.

Has the rescue barge been updated?

I’ve noticed that some files are now missing. Back in 2021, there was an MP3 barge with duplicates—but these weren’t actual duplicates; they were simply named the same while being different songs. Since the removal of these so-called duplicates, a lot of material seems to be missing.

I don’t know anything about that you’d be best to contact The Internet Archive directly (info@archive.org) with your query, it could be a copyright issue and they’ve had to make some changes?

Let us know what they say.

Do you know who created the barge mentioned above? It included files labeled A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, and A10.

This is the original barge containing all the files.

it’s stated in the original thread? that its been de’duplicated?

most likely Jason Scott (http://www.textfiles.com/) using his pseudonym “Sketch the Cow” - you can try and reach out to him but don’t always expect a response.

Jason and I have previously communicated by email, and I will reach out to him again. I’ve just sent an email to the address you provided above.

There used to be over 300,000 tracks, but now there are fewer.?

Do you know where I can find the barge that resembles the one in the picture I sent, with files labeled A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, and A12?

Looks like they’ve been delisted (?) from the Internet Archive, even typing in the expeted URI returns a “Item cannot be found” error.

Really disappointing if that is the case as even I don’t have a current mirror anymore :frowning:

in the meantime, you could see if anyone else had managed to succesfully download any of these - try this board first:

I made this website last year by scraping all the metadata from the .html files in the skeleton. You can search by artist, title, and genre: MP3.com Archive Search

oh nice

i wish we still had the dumps of the MP3’s :frowning:

Btw I noticed some of the artist_song pages are missing from your website while they are in the skeleton files I have, e.g. http://mp3-2003.computer-legacy.com/artist_song/405/405663.html

ok odd - I changed providers a little while back and I think some stuff didn’t transfer properly.

If its easier you can reach me via email at archive-work@computer-legacy.com and we can work out what might be missing.

I’m in the process of moving house, so things might be a bit slow to materialise but I’d like to figure out what’s missing

hello man and really thank you for what’ you’ve done. I’ve spent 3 hours, today, to search for the name and then the audio of a song i was listening to in the late nineties… finally, thanks to you, i discovered that this was the name: MP3.com: Sample Accurate

unfortunately i’m unable to download the song… would you be please so kind to help me?

sadly no can do - until someone re-uploads the audio dumps somewhere - as they’ve been removed from Internet Archive and I’ve lost my copies :frowning:

You could try reddit as some people there might be sitting on local copies
