Mix Engineer vs. Mixer

On many credits, especially newer releases, I see “Mix Engineer” or “Engineer for Mix” in addition to “Mixer”. How are most handling these situations. I usually say mixer, but then it typically leaves two mixers without differentiating. Should I just be saying Engineer or should Mix Engineer be a new type of artist relationship?

Mixer, mix engineer and engineer for mix, they all man the same, it seems.

So when you have both mixer and mix engineer on the same release, maybe the mixer means something like DJ-mixer?

PS. Wow, two years later? I wonder why I saw this topic pop up at the very top the Latest topics.

It is because @chaban changed the category and tags for this thread. Not sure if this is a feature or just a side effect because this behavior has already confused me a few times in the past…

i think it also boils down to the specific item.
Some groups have a “mixer” as a member. This is separate from the mixer in the studio.
And if stems are involved - fuhgettaboutit
