Mashup works, how to handle live (performed not mixed) mashups?

so, this is a question that’s been bouncing around my head for some time, but I finally found a perfect (and already existing) example. how should we handle mashups on the work side?

the exact example I’ve got here is Pomplamoose, they recorded a mashup of Old Town Road by Lil Nas X (vocals) and Pony by Genuwine (instruments)

currently, this is in the database as a medley of the two base works (edits by @glawie), but I seem to remember it’s been discussed that that’s the wrong relationship to use (whether it has or not tho, it feels incorrect to me). I wonder if there is (or could be) a correct relationship at the work level. since the Pomplamoose recording doesn’t use either original recording (it’s played by a band with the vocalist), the mashup recording relationship would not be correct in this case

in the past, I have used “based on” or “version of”, (one example is classical mashups like Ain’t, Brithoven, and It’s, where the original recording is very difficult or impossible to find), but I’m open to other options

a thought is a new relationship, so we could specify which work is which part (i.e. which songs the lyrics and music came from). a relationship like this could have broader applications, like traditional songs where (often existing?) lyrics are put to the tune of another song
