It appears Last.fm sync is not working for me anymore. The scrobbles were last imported on 2026-06-26 about 1:22 CEST, and no new scrobbles appeared in ListenBrainz since then. Right now there are about 150 scrobbles in my Last.fm waiting to be imported.
I saw other threads about similar issue, but they concern new ListenBrainz accounts and the initial Last.fm import. I’ve had Last.fm connected to my ListenBrainz account for a long time now, and the sync suddenly stopped. So I created a new topic, but maybe it could be merged to another one.
I was scratching my head quite hard after waiting a day and the status did not budge at all. I decided to translate my last.fm scrobbles using a JSON exporter to a libre.fm CSV: jq -r '.scrobbles[] | [ (.date | (. / 1000)), .artist, .track, .album ] | @csv'
Perhaps I should have been more patient, but there reports of scrobbling failing to work, most likely due to last.fm changes. I am still waiting for the libre.fm imports to actually show up on my profile.
I’m really not sure how Last.fm changes could be related here. What they changed so far affects scrobbling to Last.fm, but privacy-related changes in the API were only annouced as planned, not as done.
And in any case, since I wrote my post yesterday some of my scrobbles were imported from Last.fm to ListenBrainz, but importing stopped again. So I suspect a problem on LB side. But let’s wait until we hear from the staff.
I suspect it is a ListenBrainz issue as other sites that use the Last.fm API are working fine for my profile, yet the last time my listens updated was on the 27th of June.
…but I still feel sorry for the ListenBrainz staff having to deal with this drama. The lengths some people go to so their favorite band appears at the top of the global charts…
It did, but it’s infrequent now. Previously there was a new batch of scrobbles synced more less every hour, now it’s at most once a day. And I haven’t checked yet if everything I scrobbled to Last.fm was actually imported.
