I accidentally moved the main picard tool bar out of the window. I didn’t even realize I’d done it at first. Once I figured it out, I was fumbling around trying to fix it. I finally found the drag handle… and I accidentally dropped it so that the drag handle was hidden under my taskbar (I have vertifcal taskbars).
Thankfully, when I put the taskbar in hide mode, the drag handle was available again and I got it fixed. Prior to that, I looked all over the preferences to see if there was something I could do there to get the tool bar back where it belonged, but I didn’t find anything.
Is that little drag handle on the left the only way to reposition the toolbar? Did I overlook anything?

I don’t believe there’s a way to “re-attach” the Actions toolbar to the main window without dragging and dropping it, but these changes are tracked by the application in the “Picard.ini” file. Specifically, it is wrapped under “window_state”.
Off the top of my head, you could do either of the following:
- Quit Picard, open “Picard.ini” with a text editor, and delete the line starting with “window_state=”, ending with the closing parentheses, “)” of the same line. Reopen Picard and the toolbar should be re-attached to the main window. When you quit Picard, it will write the “window_state” data back to Picard.ini.
- Quit Picard, delete “Picard.ini” and let the application rebuild the entire file the next time you re-open it. Note that this should probably be your last resort as you will lose quite a few other settings that you’ve configured previously.
If you’re not sure where “Picard.ini” lives, the quickest way to locate this file is by going to Settings → Advanced → Maintenance and clicking “Open folder” next to the “Configuration File” location.
As always, make sure to create a backup of the file before making any changes.
