It seems musicbrainzngs is not maintained anymore GitHub - alastair/python-musicbrainzngs: Python bindings for Musicbrainz' NGS webservice. Could you confirm this @alastairp ? We use it in funkwhale and I planned to add support for the genre endpoint but I don’t want to bother for nothing

@alastairp Since we use it at funkwhale would you like us to help to maintain it ? Or is there a reason it’s not maintained anymore ?
I suspect @alastairp is no longer maintaining it because he’s mostly not doing MetaBrainz things anymore. We never adopted the library because with the JSON API, most of us just don’t see the benefit over doing requests to the API directly, honestly.
I feel like API binding are good mostly for hard typed languague where one optional field can break everything, so try maybe manually calling the API?
If you need/want to maintain it, you’ll probably be better forking it and make your own.
