Image handling, CA preferences based on image size etc

I’m constantly battling with CA images, mainly they’re way too large.
I’m thinking of making a Picard plugin or something (a local folder trigger handling this or something similar), but just wanted to ask first if there is already a solution to this?

My preferences are two fold; I have a local server (MiniDLNA) that has V0 MP3’s and limited disk space, where I like to resize CA to 2000x2000 px, save as JPG at 90%, which shrinks it down to 0,8-1,6 Mb on average.
I have a Navidrome/Subsonic server for quality streaming, that has FLAC and no such limitations for space.

So when I tag the MP3’s with Picard I’d love to handle the size for the images automatically when I save and it moves the files to destination folder.
Does something like this already exist?

We’ll release Picard 3 soon (probably in September), and it includes a lot of new features to resize cover art:

We already have released beta versions, if you want to give it a run: see Picard 3 beta 4

Thanks! This does save me a lot of trouble.

I haven’t used the beta’s since I have big issues with them during the transition from Picard 1 to 2.
I was using linux, windows and OSX during that time, which didn’t make any of this any easier

If you test, backup your config first (as explained in the blog post).
We are always interested by feedback about last beta.

A handy way to test the new one is to use the Portable version. Then you can see how it all behaves literally side by side with v2.x.

No problems so far, didn’t do a lot of testing as of yet, but will do more soon.
Image handling worked as expected!
