You can also use the full $unset list and disable all tags except for cover art:

This has come up a few times over the years, that MusicBrainz Picard doesn’t have a way to ‘only tag X’, e.g. ‘only tag genre and nothing else’. In the meantime, here’s a list that you can paste into Picard > Options > Scripting that will stop any standard MusicBrainz/Picard tag from being overwritten, for future reference. Personally I would recommend leaving MBID’s at least, so you can update stuff whenever you want.
