How to allow reducing embedded image size when "Never replace cover images with smaller ones" is enabled?

Semi-new user of Picard here, I initially had it set to not download any cover art, and did that manually. Recently, to save space on my hard drive, I’ve enabled the “Resize images saved to tags option”, and set it to 1000x1000px. However, I want the external file (cover.jpg) to stay the same resolution (in case MB doesn’t have a higher resolution ver), or be increased. If I enable “Never replace cover images with smaller ones” (so Picard doesn’t replace the external file with a smaller version from CAA), it seems to block the resizing option.

How can I both:

  1. Resize the embedded image to 1000px
  2. Either:
    • Increase the external image’s size to a larger version on CAA/MB
    • Leave the external image alone if CAA has a smaller version

I’ve already set Picard to grab the full size from CAA, so that’s not the issue.
