Hey, I wanted to add Disc ID to this release, but I couldn’t because the CD contains 10, instead of 8 tracks. Unfortunately, there is no cd text added, but I was able to identify that the tracks no. 4 and 10 are just a sound quotes from some movies, I suppose.
I am not quite sure how to proceed here — should I add missing tracks? If so, how should I name them? “Skit 1” and “Skit 2”? Or maybe an “Outro” for the 10th tracks? I’d be happy for any suggestions.
First make sure it is really the exact same release. There might be a variation without these non-music tracks.
But if it is the same release, the tracks should be added, yes. If there is some known name (e.g. printed on the track list), then this would usually be used.
If not, this would be an unknown track title. The very generic way would be [untitled]. But also if there is an commonly known unofficial name that would be enclosed in square brackets. The style guide also mentions that are not songs a descriptive name inside square brackets could be used. So I’d say “[skit 1]” and “[skit 2]” would be fine. Hey, thanks a lot!
Yes, this is the same release, for sure.
I’ve identified the tracks as this quote from Casino movie and this quote from Scarface.
So I am going to credit Robert De Niro and Al Pacino as artists and use [untitled] as the tracks name. Thanks!
Hey, my edit has failed and was not applied and I do not really understand why. Could maybe someone help me with making this change (not having this prevents me from adding a disc ID due to conflict in track number in TOC).
I am not sure what is this change in the tracklist, as it seems it did not really change? Or is it an issue that I accidentally submited this change twice? But I think in such a case on edit should be successful and only the second one should fail?
If you look at the edit history you can see that there was an edit by @jesus2099 before yours went through, perhaps that caused it (I am never that clear on what can cause conflicts, this one probably would have caught me by surprise as well):
In any case, no other edits are open now, so you should be safe to add the tracks.
P.S. If you add the same edit twice the second one will usually fail, but the first one will go through fine
Okay, I thought this was a band name edit, so it was not conflicting with the tracklist, as this is a separate “entity”? But I was probably wrong. I’ll make the edit once again then. Thanks!
I agree - though an edit changing all uses of the artist credit (which that edit did) is a bit more complex than just changing the entity name. For specifics on why that could cause it to fail we will have to hope for someone more knowledgeable to come along. Thanks for re-adding the edit!
