Add niqqud if the artwork has it (usually for children records) but only for release, track titles and artist credits, not recording, works or artist names.
In general nobody should vote No on an addition because of it missing these - rather vote No on a change removing them. But you can of course always explicitly say that using it is preferred, kinda like in Style / Miscellaneous - MusicBrainz
Maybe on recording, work and artist name level they can be added too, but as Hebrew aliases.
Also, I’m not sure what is a naming convention here on MB. Should a main name always be near to the original name or not? If yes, then I think the niqquded version should be the primary name and versions without it should be added as aliases. If there’s no convention like this then I’m not sure, because AFAIK with my knowledge of Hebrew niqqud isn’t used so much except of children books and other children content, poetry and some other special cases, and it’s hard to type them. So maybe it will more logical to make not niqquded version the primary just to make the searching process a little bit easier. But as I said, I’m not completely sure here.
In any case, I think it will be useful to use aliases for adding both niqquded and not niqquded versions for songs that have niqqud in their title
Maybe it would be useful to add the link to this thread on that page as well, so that if someone has suggestions for improvements, they can suggest them here instead of starting a new discussion, right?
Yeah, I don’t think that belongs at the doc page. In fact, it’s perfectly fine to start a new discussion if someone has an idea in a year or two - and if it’s sooner than that they’ll probably find this. It’s already linked from the ticket, which is the other place they might search.
