My name is Smayan Sangoju and I’d like to apply for GSoC 2026 with ListenBrainz, specifically the “Showcase MusicBrainz Events in ListenBrainz” project.
A bit about me: I’m a developer comfortable with Python and JavaScript/TypeScript. I’ve previously contributed to an open source hackathon project focused on university sustainability, where I wrote code that was merged into the main repository.
I’m excited about this project because I think surfacing concert and event data directly in ListenBrainz would make it a much more complete music discovery platform — connecting listening history to real-world experiences like concerts and festivals is a natural and valuable extension.
I’ve started reading through the contributor guidance and I’m setting up the ListenBrainz server locally. I’d love any advice on getting started, and I’m happy to discuss the project scope with the mentors (Ansh, Monkey).
