Genius pages for labels and places - lyrics or other database?

STYLE-1922 asks to allow lyrics links for Genius label and place entries. We don’t currently have any concept of lyrics relationships for places and, while that would be easy to add, I was wondering whether people think it makes any sense?

A page like https://genius.com/artists/Fantasy-studios, for example, seems to actually be “lyrics for songs that were recorded, mixed or mastered at Fantasy Studios”. That doesn’t seem to be “lyrics for the place”, and the main point of the page seems to be that Genius is growing into more than just lyrics and it now allows storing and seeing where music was engineered. Similarly, it seems a bit weird to link to https://genius.com/artists/Ascap with “label lyrics”, since that is a page for songs mostly linked to ASCAP as “Performance Rights” or “Licensing” - yet another example of a more “database” style idea.

Should we start linking Genius to labels and places as “other databases” instead? (right now both label and place links are rejected outright, so there’s no relationships to change or any other legacy worry).

Yes, I think linking as “other databases” is the way to go for now.

For places it doesn’t make any sense to me.
Their lyrics pages (works) are twisted into recordings when they link them to a (recording) place.
For the moment I don’t think we should allow places.

For labels, I am not very convinced it is interesting.
It’s similar to release group to lyrics sites but even less interesting.
But OK why not…
