I have a release from a digital download which contains the track “[Instrumental] Neppa (Tanger Remix)”. Following English style guidelines, would it be proper to move the ETI to the front and keep the brackets – making the title “Neppa (Tanger remix) [instrumental]”? Or should I convert the brackets into parentheses – making the title “Neppa (Tanger remix) (instrumental)”?
That’s what’s done usually, and what’s I’d do in such case.
“instrumental” is clearly ETI and as such it should be in parenthesis (as per Style / Titles - MusicBrainz).
“(Tanger remix)” is also ETI.
It also makes sense if there’s multiple tracks of the same title in the same release:
“Neppa (Tanger remix)"
"Neppa (Tanger remix) (instrumental)”
“Neppa (Whatever remix)”

I tend to keep [brackets] if there seems to be artist intent, but yes, I’d probably move [instrumental] to the end either way
This I am glad to see. A few too many people try and merge that.
