The Atmos releases I’ve seen on Tidal (when you can actually find them) have different barcodes and URLs.

Sometimes it will be separate releases, sometimes the same where immersive audio might be added retroactively:
So if I understand this right, you pay Apple for one item and get two different ways to play it back. Sounds like one Release with two Mediums to me. Same as that SACD with a Stereo layer and a Surround layer.
Multiple mediums is also tidier to use than the messier answer we have with a BluRay where it is all stuck in the same track list. Two mediums mean 1-10 track numbering each time.
I would find some way to get the Atmos into the name - at least at a disambig level.
That makes it easier to keep separate releases. Let’s see if Apple mimic that method.

Exactly. It’s one item to stream or purchase, but different ways to do playback based on your equipment.
i feel like a lot of times (even with the 2 mediums approach) we’d end up with separate releases anyway, though.
- the general streaming version (spotify, deezer, etc), no dolby atmos
- the apple music version, with the dolby atmos medium
unless i’m misunderstanding how dolby atmos is distributed. but on most platforms you wouldn’t get the option to stream/buy with dolby atmos; if you bought it on qobuz you’d only be able to download the normal version.
Yeah, I just realized that this release shares URLs with Spotify/Deezer and they don’t have Dolby Atmos, so I’m just going to add the stereo medium to the new Apple Music release and move the Apple info to that. This is going to be a very common situation though with Apple Music. Fortunately, many labels do have separate barcodes for Apple Music than Spotify/Deezer, but this one doesn’t.

Reading through this, can someone help me figure out how I should be submitting tidal Atmos tracks?
Are they a separate release given that they have a different “Immersive Mix Engineer”?
Then should I add (Dolby Atmos) to the Release title and a Dolby Atmos clarifier in the format?
Example - A Love Supreme by John Coltrane on TIDAL
Release Title - A Love Supreme (Dolby Atmos / Spatial Audio)
Format: Digital Media (Dolby Atmos / Spatial Audio)
Should it be Spatial Audio or Dolby Atmos? Dolby Atmos is just a standard for interpreting Spatial Audio mixing and encoding so I would think a more generic term makes more sense.
They are a separate release with unique barcodes. Do not add “Dolby Atmos” to titles unless it’s printed on the artwork (I’ve never seen that). However, you should add “Dolby Atmos mix” to the disambiguation. Do not need to add spatial audio to anything as all Dolby Atmos mixes are spatial audio. So, kinda redundant. I wouldn’t use that because TIDAL also has Sony 360 Audio as well and when they do it should have that disambiguation instead as both have unique ISRCs and barcodes. Use Harmony (https://harmony.pulsewidth.org.uk/) to import TIDAL releases and it give you the ISRCs and you can typically figure out the true date of release (many are backdated to dates before these mixes were available) as the date of the mix is included in the ISRC.
The only medium format is Digital Media. There is not a sub-format for this.

Oh, do not re-use non-Dolby Atmos mix recordings as they have different mixers as you have pointed out. Create new recordings and add “Dolby Atmos mix” to each recording to differentiate them from the standard mix. If you are familiar with scripts you can use the following: // @downloadURL https://raw.github.com/ROpdebee/mb-userscripts/main/mb_qol_seed_recording_disambiguation.user.js
It will let you edit the disambiguation on every recording on the release all at once so you don’t have to edit each one manually.

To clarify, even if the mixers were the same, Style / Recording - MusicBrainz still requires separate recordings.
