Divide artist, artistsort and albumartist, albumartistsort. Add MB-field join to saved fields (optional)

Maybe it is a new feature. For now the fields artist, artistsort and albumartist, albumartistsort will be written into the files with the field(s) join between.

  1. pls make it possible that the fields will be written as they are in MB-Data, also the field join
  2. Do you know a workaround until this feature will be implemented, if this feature wil be accepted.

thx bkh

All the artists and album artists as separate values are available in scripting as %artists% and %_albumartists%. For the join phrases see the “Additional Artists Variables” variables plugin. Among others it provides the variables %_artists_track_all_join_phrases% and %_artists_album_all_join_phrases% variables, which hold the join phrases as multi value tags.

Oh how fast reply!!

Sorry for my question.
I am not familiar with the scripting functions and also not with the functions to save the variables in the tracks.

Does anyone know a ‘tutorial for dummies’ for these things.

It all depends on what you actually want to achieve. How do you want the data in your tags, and how do you want you music player to show this?

Also which music player do you use, and does it support what you want to do?

Maybe not a “tutorial for dummies”, but there are some instructions regarding scripting and such in the Picard User’s Guide. The guide also provides some step-by-step tutorials regarding various aspects of Picard useage as well as links to a few video tutorials. Worth checking out if you haven’t already had a look.
