Data Submissions via JSON

Does anyone know if there are plans to make Data Submissions using the API with JSON formatting?

Any future versions of the web service will be JSON‐only, and MBS-211 isn’t likely to get implemented for the current version of the web service (and if it was, it’d be for XML and JSON).

I think the question is more likely to be “for the stuff we can already submit, like tags, can we / will we be able to do it with JSON”.
