Over the years many “playlists” have been produced, often curated by musicians, bands, labels or music magazines and such like.
Some of these may have been printed, or added to services which aren’t as open or forever as ListenBrainz so I will often recreate these playlists that I find (often in magazines and such like) into ListenBrainz so that everyone can enjoy them for years to come.
Many of these are a nice insight into music tastes at the time, or maybe represent the feeling of flicking through your favourite artists record collection or scrolling through their iPod!
Anyway, I thought I’d start this relatively casual thread to share these playlists, and discuss them (maybe, no pressure).
The first one I’d like to bring your attention to is the Junk Drawer Jukebox series, which is a series of public posts from Claire Hughes on Facebook. Claire buys/obtains broken iPod’s and brings them back to life, but before wiping them back to factory settings she takes a quick delve into the previous owners listening habits and creates 15-20 track playlists of their most popular tracks.
So far we’ve got Episodes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on ListenBrainz, and there’s a few more that she’s released recently that I need to add.
Enjoy, and hopefully this becomes a cool little thread

Just sharing the backlog before I get to making fresh playlists.
Blender Magazine’s Download This Month feature, for December 2005
This was a printed playlist that featured routinely in music magazine Blender where they gave readers some ideas of what must be downloaded to their iPod/MP3 player that month.
This one was shared on socials and had a lukewarm reception
Q - All Original Material (Ten Classics from the Skinner Vault)
This will likely be a common theme throughout these playlists, supposed playlists curated by the artist themselves or playlists that aim to give newcomers a whistle-stop tour of their discography.
This is more the latter, focusing on the works of Mike Skinner of UK rap outfit The Streets.
Q - On The Stereo (2019 November)
Sticking with Q magazine (they’ll feature a lot as they’re one of my favourite publications, RIP) we have a playlist from their On the Stereo segment, which I recall has been called different things previously.
Pretty much what has been playing in the Q magazine offices for that month. A good way to see what was considered trendy in the world of music at the time.
Q The Mix Sessions - Gaz Coombes Presents Road Trip Songs
A themed curated playlist by Supergrass’ Gaz Coombes.
