I know that Picard’s main function is not a CD player, but I personally would find it useful if Picard could be a basic CD player (play, pause, stop, back, forward) when performing MBz tasks.
At the moment Picard can:
- Access the CD to generate a DiscID for cross-checking the MBz database
- Playback digital audio files from the file browser
My current work flow is usually:
- Insert CD
- Open Picard
- Lookup CD (and either load, submit etc.)
- Open VLC
- Load the CD into VLC
- Begin the process of submitting/cataloguing/updating/fingerprinting metadata etc.
Just thought it would be neat if I didn’t have to leave the Picard application to play the CD (as I think its pretty useful, if not sometimes imperative, to listen to the medium while performing tasks relating to it).
