Can Picard split automatically mp3 files, depending on silence - or do I need extra tools as mp3split / mp3splt before I can use Brainz? Or is there maybe a plugin for this purpose?
Quick answer - no. Picard is a tagger, not an editor. You’ll need to slice the files up yourself. Do you have a cue file with it to get the track details?

Hi, I think it is better for you to use a professional tool to split your MP3 files. You can do it online or offline depending on what you need. For online tools, I recommend Online Audio Cutter. For offline tools, I suggest Joyoshare Audio Cutter. Both of them are what I have ever used. Especially the latter, it can cut and split MP3 file without quality loss.
