So to try and keep things in check I often check for recordings that have matching durations and share an exclusive (i.e. just one) fingerprint and if they’re able to be merged down.
Of course the more popular the track the more variants exist etc. however for Soul II Soul’s classic Back to Life I have found multiple recordings which have two exclusive fingerprints. I understand it is often possible for a track to have a few fingerprints, but I’ve never seen this behaviour before where there are two different AcoustID’s being applied to so many recordings - this seems like more than a mis-tag etc.
Any ideas on how to approach this bag of snakes?
