This seems to be the most elusive question I’ve had in a long time. I just started using EMBY. A lot of my music files didn’t load properly, said to use this site for music I.D. numbers. I can’t figure out how to get the required info. Right now I started by trying to get the album “Pulse” by Pink Floyd, the full album. Emby, seems to want a lot of info for music. I haven’t a clue how to get find all these numbers. Thank You
welcome to the forums~
I presume you’re talking about MBIDs? if you’re on the MusicBrainz website, that’s the long string of characters in the URL, which is a unique identifier for each entity, like recordings, release groups (essentially albums), artists, etc.
for instance, you’ll find many different releases of Pulse here:
I’m not sure what MBIDs Emby is looking for, but a good way to get them for everything is to run your files through MusicBrainz Picard. if you’ve already got decent tags on your files, don’t Scan (that ignores tags and just goes by audio fingerprint), but instead do Lookup (or alternatively, you could locate your release on the website and load it in, just copy the release URL into the search bar at the top of Picard)
also, be sure to work on a backup of your files, and only run a few at a time at first, until you get the hang of it
Picard is a powerful tool, and it’s easy to accidentally do something you don’t want it to (tho also surprisingly easy to get it right, if you read through the docs first)
Unfortunately, there is no obvious hint in the KB of Emby about this “Album I.D.”:

I’m not sure what they mean with mbzalbumids
Could it be the MusicBrainz Release ID?
sounds like that could be release group MBIDs then, looking at Kim Wilde’s discography
Yes, in Picard it is Release ID you need. This is tagged as “MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMID”. And the way to tell your versions of the same album apart.
I’m a KODI user and this trick is pretty important for my dozen copies of “Dark Side of the Moon”. All have the same title, but the ReleaseID \ AlbumID tells them apart.
