Should we move our repos out of GitHub and into an owned repo, behind Anubis (AI crawler protection)?
I guess GitHub Copilot is using our benevolent human written code and commits for its own development and benefits.
Is Gitlab also vulturing its hosted repos for some AI shit?
It says they don’t try to prevent scraping:
if you have public open source repositories, it is possible for AI vendors unrelated to GitLab to scrape your repository and train with it.
It’s why maybe we should go with an owned git repo, git.metabrainz.org or whatever, and protect it with Anubis…
But maybe it’s impossible to protect against all AI leachers? Maybe AI will simply clone repos? And protecting clone URL will also block legit human clones?
