About making Contribution to MetaBrainz codes

Hello everyone.

This is Divesh Pandey, CSE sophomore from IIT, BHU, India. I came to know about this organization while I was going through GSOC 2016’s projects. From many days, I have been trying to find a way to contribute to this organization, but I am not able to find a suitable way to achieve this.

I am interested in working towards machine learning/data science. One of the projects, AcousticBrainz was surely in this field. On this page and several other pages, it is mentioned that before understanding any code, it is better if I start understanding the data first. For this, I tried to use Picard. Mostly all of my songs were already tagged in the database, so I couldn’t help much in adding new data. I want some help in understanding the data, so please someone please help.

Also apart from AcousticBrainz, what other projects are based on data science? I am currently studying Neural Networks/Deep Learning. If my knowledge is able to contribute to this organization, it will be great moment for me.

Please note that this is my first interaction with this community, so I know I will create many mistakes in following the code of conduct. If possible, please let me know.

Hello Divesh, and welcome to the MetaBrainz community

We generally recommend that newcomers go over https://wiki.musicbrainz.org/Development/Summer_of_Code/Getting_started to get started - esp. if they’re prospective GSoC students. That page has a lot of hints on how to get started. If you have any specific questions not answered by that page, please go ahead and ask them.
