According to Advanced Variables — MusicBrainz Picard v2.13.3 documentation , there are a couple of variables (_release_seriesnumber, _releasegroup_seriesnumber, _recording_seriesnumber and _work_seriesnumber) that return the “series numbers associated with the release/track etc.” Are these the numbers (positions) of those entities in the associated series? Because series themselves don’t seem to have a number attribute. The text is not quite clear here.

I believe that your understanding is correct. For example, if a release belonged to two different series (Series A, position 1; Series B, position 3), this value would be [1, 3].

Thank you. In that case may I suggest changing the wording? Something like:
If the release is part of one of more series, this multi-value variable contains the positions (numbers) of the release in those series.
This would be a lot clearer, but maybe someone else could phrase it even better.

Your suggested wording sounds fine to me. I’ll make the change shortly.
