Why were my covers art canceled?

Can I add the cover again or scan it again and add it?

Second question:

At what DPI should I scan: 300, 600 or 1200?

EDIT:

Let me clarify the question:

I no longer have these scans on disk, so does MB only remember the thumbnails (I have to scan again)?

Third question:

If the scan takes 20MB, will this size be added to the MP3 file in Picard?

I wouldn’t see a reason why you couldn’t re-add it.
I’m not 100% sure on the second question, but looking at the edit link above, it looks like MB does not have the images hosted anymore. Also I’d scan at the highest DPI possible for archival purposes.
As far as the third question, a user can limit the cover art resolution in picard, and therefore what file size the artwork is downloaded at.

Of course I can.

But what I mean is some kind of “Refresh” or “Reload” button from these visible miniatures.

So I guess I have to scan again and add it.

Scan at 600dpi is usually good enough. 300dpi is pretty rubbish, and 1200dpi are huge and don’t gain much.

Your exact scan is then stored at the Cover Art Archive. They then also make different sized copies of the artwork.

Find a Release, look at the artwork page, check the links at the very bottom as one on these take you to the CAA and your actual artwork as stored and versions.

If you tell Picard to add embedded artwork it will by default add that 20MB file. Or go into the settings and ask it to add a smaller version.

If I choose 1200px in Picard, but the database does not have this size, what cover will it assign to the MP3?

It just gives you the smaller image. Easy to check by clicking on 1200px in that first image and see what you get.

The above example has only 600px art uploaded. Clicking on 1200px gives you that 600px image. So Picard will do the same.

If artwork is above 1200px, then you’ll get a downsized version.

Looks like 1200px thumb versions are stored at CAA, download the original files from the history.
