# Which release date should be prioritized?

[This album](https://musicbrainz.org/release/a888129d-f14c-4b80-9234-3e7934d9f749) by Wage War is listed on MusicBrainz as released on 2020-11-27, which is accurate according to both to the streaming platforms, and when the album actually released.

However, [the Apple Music version](https://musicbrainz.org/release/2b203311-b3fb-4c52-9f8c-c4a917a14324) is listed as 2015-11-27. While it matches what [Apple Music](https://music.apple.com/us/album/blueprints-anniversary-edition/1540218159) says, it’s not accurate to when the actual album released.

Should the listed release date be prioritized, like this album, or should it be based on the actual release date (like [this re-issued album](https://musicbrainz.org/release/09280f8c-c3d4-4968-9a69-35ad3c874f8a)).

Actual release date is what should be shown on release events. It’s common for digital streaming/download sites to have a retroactive date shown on sites to show when the original release was first available. Good sources for true release dates are Deezer, Tidal (streamstart dates in metadata, not the release date they show), 7 digital, mora.jp. Different dates are not enough for different releases as long as everything else is the same. Dates may vary from sites to site on the same release.

Update: So, the “anniversary edition” wasn’t available until 2020? If so, then yes, that release date should be edited to reflect that.

Yeah the Anniversary Edition was released 5 years after the original. I’ve updated the release date.
