Release name “Committed to the Commission”
Artist credit “FaithWay Baptist Church” & “College of Canada”
Both “FaithWay Baptist Church” & “College of Canada” are places but added into MB as artists.
The artists on the back art are:
Baptist College of Canada Servant Singers
FaithWay Baptist School Children’s Chorus
FaithWay Baptist Church Ladies’ Trio
FaithWay Baptist Church Choir
I don’t think these names refer to places, but rather to communities. Their choirs perform on this album.
I would leave the “church artists” as album artists and assign (create) the given recording artists to the individual tracks/recordings. They should also be linked to their churches.
Edit: Of course, the Baptist College of Canada is not a church, but also meant to represent a community.
Ok, I need to think that over, is a community considered to be an artist? I was going to create artists and assign them to the tracks/recordings but did not know how to handle the “communities”.
I admit that’s rather strange. Alternatively it could be Various Artists with only the actual choirs as artists, but especially the FaithWay choirs would be grouped under this artist.
And church and college are presented like artists.
But I had another idea. Album artists…
Baptist College of Canada Servant Singers & FaithWay Baptist Church Choirs
credited as: “FaithWay Baptist Church” & “College of Canada”
The flaw: “FaithWay Baptist Church Choirs” is a completely made-up artist…
I have some thoughts. First I need to ask the original editor if they know the structure of the two “communities”, the website links are vague in the details of their different musical groups. These could be one-off aliases for promotional purposes (projects) and maybe the track artist(group) should be the already defined group but just “credited as” for the track/recording listing. I am leaning heavily towards this solution, it gets the crediting done (at least for now), and if anyone has issues with it they can create the community structure to add the individual members of the community (a group/chorus/choir under a group) with the visual track credit staying the same. Does that make sense?
I would make them separate track/recording artists, even if they don’t have many releases. It’s unlikely that the School Children’s Chorus and the Ladies’ Trio have the same personnel.
But you should decide what fits best. In such rare cases, you will hardly have any complaints.
I created sub-groups for each of the mentioned track/recording artists, if that is wrong someone will fix it. The editor replied back and “Faithway Baptist School” was a third separate “community” so a created a group for them and added the “FaithWay Baptist School Children’s Chorus” under that as a sub-group. Thanks for your help.
