What relationship could I use for two works that are identical except for a word in the lyrics?

This is rather awkward but there these two songs by the group the Dream Eaters that are almost identical except for one singular word in the lyrics. I’m talking about 3D Printer and 3D Printer (Vagina version). The “regular” version says “I’m gonna 3D print your body”, whereas in the vagina version “body” is replaced by “vagina”. Because of this, I feel compelled to link those two works using a work to work relationship but I’m not sure if I should do so and what kind of relationship might be appropriate for this case?

I guess vagina version is the original, so you could link both recordings to a unique 3D Printer work.
And write annotation about it.

It also happens to have slight word changes in live versions, while still keeping the same one work.

An example from Radiohead is Creep. This often gets censored on the Radio Friendly compilations. Here we have two recordings, but both link to the same Work as only the one word changes.

If you think about it; lyrics are 1 part of a song. There’s also melody, chord progression, tempo / mood etc… So 1 work, different recordings. Also seems to be the conclusion of that thread.

You could further argue at what point does it justify a new work ? If only small elements of each aspect changes, or 1 aspect in it’s entirety ? Or a certain percentage of 1 or multiple aspects etc etc :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Generally remixes all point back to the original work, even when a remix varies a lot from the original.

Doesn’t really matter as they are the same. As the final version is just “3D Printer” then I’d tend to pick that as the destination so I didn’t have to come back and make edits later.

I’d also add an annotation to mention the two different versions.

Sounds like someone needs to ship-of-Theseus transform one song into another… one word, rhythm, or melodic phrase at a time… record them all, and start a thread here asking how many works it is :laughing:
