Requests for Votes Thread

i don’t need an approve vote, i’d just like more than one opinion on these edits. i’ve submitted them multiple times and the same single editor keeps downvoting them with no response/reasoning when requested.

I agree that no votes should always come with edit notes. It’s impossible, otherwise.

By the way, you too, can you please add your reasoning/reference in these edit notes?
Maybe you did it in the original edits but they are not linked there and it’s better for a rename edit to be documented, anyway.

Yeah, well, 11 attempts in under 2 two months seems excessive.

.

(honestly, it seems like there has been more than 11, but that is all that appeared in the history)

and yet, i still recieved no note. i don’t know what’s wrong with the edit if you don’t tell me, if the edit is problematic you should be able to explain what’s wrong with it, no?

(also, it was 4 times, not 11- one of them had an edit note, but if you see the relationships tab, i cleaned it up so there would be nothing wrong. and i explained why i continued to resubmit it- you’ve explained nothing.

Edit #84859682 - MusicBrainz)

anyway, this discussion does not belong here, maybe leave an edit note and we can identify what the problem is

yeah, i probably should’ve typed it out in these edits too! i’ll add the full explanation there so it’s documented clearly.

2 posts were split to a new topic: Renaming artist after marriage

Could I get some votes for this edit. I’ve only got two more songs to add to the tracklist, and I don’t want to wait until Sunday.
https://musicbrainz.org/edit/85011201

Why is it added in so many edits, almost track by track?

Doesn’t it mean that this is an evolving DL album?
Released in several times and each release type should be a separate release, no?

I am not that interested about this, so I don’t know the results of previous topics:

i (usually) agree. a good reference i use for changes on sites like bandcamp is “would any other platform let them change this?”. like for example, most streaming platforms don’t let you edit a release to add new tracks, you would have to remove the existing release and add a new one with a new barcode. if spotify would have you create a new release, it should be a new release in musicbrainz, too.

i’ve done this before with this release group, where the artist ended up deleting certain songs, possibly because she wanted to remove it but was stuck in a contract to keep it up.

From what I can tell for this particular release it is meant to be a ‘final’ 30 track release, with a track released every day. So it makes sense to only make one release imo, rather than 30 releases with an extra track in each one :stuck_out_tongue:

If it was changing in an ‘unplanned’ manner then I would definitely agree with adding new releases instead.

Every November since 2010, the Grateful Dead have released a track each day throughout the month. Collectively, these are called “30 Days of Dead”. Each is considered a separate release and each (except the first two) have distinctive cover art.

Speaking of which, I’ve just added the last two songs, so if I could get a few more votes, that will finish it off for this year.

The reason I added the songs in batches of 7 was to allow each previous edit to clear.

I think it makes sense to have a Release that represents all the tracks as an album, but this fails to assign the correct %_recording_firstreleasedate% value to each track.

(Unfortunately, people were very opposed to allowing a recording to hold a date field separate from the releases it belongs to in MBS-1424.)

My takeaway from the responses to STYLE-410 is that you should also create a Promotional-status 1-track release per daily file with the release date of that file. Doesn’t scale very well, but that’s the result of these tickets.

It should be possible to research which tapers are responsible for each of these recordings, then merge the recording with the one on the original “release” of that tapers work. A lot of these are probably soundboard recordings which would make it easier. It would still be a lot of work, though.

I’d like to get some votes on merging these releases: Edit #85259184 - MusicBrainz
(And also the release group: Edit #85259413 - MusicBrainz )
I’m in one of those rare MusicBrainz editing moods today, and it’d be very nice to continue working on this group/album I just added without worrying about a pending merge. Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to fasten the process here: Release “Самый сладкий сон” by Vasuta - MusicBrainz

The last track contains a mega mix but separated, track by track.

Given the discussion that’s been happening over here:

…I decided to submit this edit RG merge edit:
https://musicbrainz.org/edit/85374977

I think it’d be good to get some more opinions and eyes on this topic. I know it’s not going to resolve in an exact consensus, but I think it’s something that deserves a chance to be deliberated on and discussed.

If that edit goes through, I’ll probably try to use it as precedent and proceed to submit similar edits whenever I turn up separations like those.
