Requests for Votes Thread

Hi, I need votes for this: https://musicbrainz.org/edit/62777774. The artist involved initially opposed the removal of membership, but this has been resolved after chatting with him (see https://musicbrainz.org/edit/62777773).

This is part of an age-old debate that’s been held over the course of several years. I definitely need some more eyes on it.

Sorry to double-post, but I need some help with this edit. I’m not certain if this is the right call.

I need more opinions on this merge recording edit by another editor. A recording is linked to a release that has tracklist conflict with Amazon and http://www.minc.gr.jp/.

Masculine something to indicate number is not correct IMO. Better stay with most frequent mistake DEGREE in this case.
We should IMO use NUMERO character or please see the previous topic about it and the resulting proposal below.

I skimmed through that thread (strangely enough I didn’t find it back when those edits were contested) and I agree with some of the points. I don’t really have that much time now to delve into any longer discussion, but I’ll get back to this issue soon

hi, if anyone has the time, i hope you could take a look at https://musicbrainz.org/edit/63020016 and give your views. it’s a release merge involving three dupes. but i have received a dissenting vote from one editor over the issue of pseudo releases. details are in our edit notes. i’m posting here as it took him 2 days to respond to my query, and my edit only has 3 more days to go. thanks in advance!

So a few years ago, there was an editor who added a bunch of soundtrack releases. Their edits were a mix of legitimate soundtracks attributed to their actual composers, legitimate soundtracks attributed to composers who did not work on them, and soundtracks that straight up did not exist. Well, that editor is back now under a new account, up to their old tricks (primarily the third scenario). I have entered edits to remove the bogus releases they’ve added, only to be hit with No votes and messages to leave them alone:
https://musicbrainz.org/edit/63149407
https://musicbrainz.org/edit/63234678
https://musicbrainz.org/edit/63234681
(There are more edits like this; the above are only the ones this editor has gotten to. That list may grow after I post this.)

For the record, I have already reported this account. There may be more I don’t know about yet; this person has used at least 4 accounts that I know of (one of which, the original, has since been deleted).

There is a dispute about a recording should be a video or not.

Got a case of Performers in titles
Should it be “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos” or “Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos”?

It seems like this specific example (“Artist1 Plays Artist2” rather than “Plays Artist2”) is, as they say, more honored in the breach. Judging by these search results, maybe it should just be removed from the guidelines entirely.

An editor argues that aspect ratio doesn’t really matter:

Hi everyone,
I just did a set of non-destructive edits to separate releases from a RG and to create 4 new RGs.
Even if it’s automatic edits, I would like to show it here if anyone disagrees with what I did (hope this is the good topic for that)

I separated Autechre’s NTS Sessions from the big RG which compiled releases with completely different tracklists
One of the edits with some details : https://musicbrainz.org/edit/63344240

Hi, I need some input on my edit here on what counts as a release for digital releases when there are different scripts used in regional stores. Thanks

Hello folks,

I’ve added detailed info for an edit on which the community was intentionally misled by its editor earlier.
If you’ve got some free time, please take a look at those underground moves.
Thanks in advance for your time and opinions!

There are two digital releases, one with traditional Chinese script and the other with simplified.
With two different scripts, we must have two releases.
You would like to remove one of the releases? Which one and why?
