I’ve got some confusion regarding track length on CD 1 in this release:
The cover art has a background scan showing widely different track length and I’ve got the exact same release as the cover scans and the track lengths I get on my rip roughly match the cover art and even the bar code and catalog number are an exact match.
However the track lengths on musicbrainz differs heavily from the cover art and my CD.
1:44 vs 1:53
7:03 vs 8:01
5:02 vs 6:46
…
I’m unsure what to do.
Should I just replace the data with my track lengths? Should I create a new release and leave this one alone?
From everything I can find there is only one “10th anniversary deluxe edition”. The original edit (with the present times) were from a now nonexistent web page and those times may have been cut-and-paste from other releases. The cover art and discog link were added later. The release was added as “Jewel Case” but later changed to Digipak. I think the track lengths originally added came from the web page and were not correct. If your album art matches the release art I would just apply the discID’s to both mediums and this will correct the lengths. I would not create a separate release.
There are acoustids matching your track times, with metadata indicating they’re from the 10th anniversary edition. (Some of them were disabled because their length was enough different from the listed track length.) So that also points to the listed times being incorrect, probably copied from the original release.
