That list of icons is mostly just flavours of Linux.
I’ll change the subject a bit.
When it comes to computer junk, we’re obviously drowning.
For browsing the internet and writing “wisdom” on forums, a Pentium and Windows XP are enough. ![]()
Maybe we should use a cloud system?
The Pentium will make a comeback. Some people are already rubbing their hands and counting the cash.
It’s more simple to use a Linux Debian Xfce, for example.
Unlike recent Windows, your old scanner will be compatible and, unlike Windows XP, you will have security, many more programs, and access to all HTTPS websites that no longer run in XP, because of obsolete browsers, etc.
Will Picard run on this Linux?
Picard is in the debian repos. Although IIRC it was a bit outdated. You can manually install it or go through nix (What I do)
I guess you haven’t actually tried accessing a forum page like this on XP in IE? The volume of the data this page downloads, and the amount of fancy features going on when compared to a forum of the time is going to be slow as treacle on a Pentium. Web technology has come a long way since XP
I have an XP laptop I need to dismantle next week. I’ll see if it boots up enough to get online and try and take a screen shot of this site in IE.
Seriously? Impossible. ![]()
Hey @chaban, would you mind if I changed:
To use a table-based format like the userscripts wiki page?
I personally find the tables more convenient to browse and sort, but not sure if that’s just me. You are the only one that has regularly updated the page since 2020 so your opinion is the one that matters ![]()
I think it’s good idea
If AI achieves self-awareness, as in SF movies, will it be equal to homo sapiens or equal to gods?
Will AI then be accepted on the forum? ![]()
That’s SF movies like Terminator?
Yes.
And whoever survives will become a battery.
That is one of the problems of The Matrix. Humans make really inefficient batteries… certainly would not make enough power to run the servers needed to run that alternate reality program. Much more efficient to go the Skynet route and clear out the human infection on the planet. Too many humans causing too much damage and using up all the resources. Just keep a few as pets for the novelty value.
You sound like Agent Smith, but I completely agree with you.
A lot of Sci-Fi future has already happened…
Not perfect or complete list but interesting if you grew up in the 20th Century…
Skynet became aware in 1997, BladeRunner and Akira were 2019. The Running Man is this year.
I find it kinda weird that Roy Batty died in 2019… a few months after Rutger Hauer.
Besides, the Illuminati and the Reptilians have not yet said their last word.
We can only observe, because the world belongs to someone else.
We don’t know who.
We only enter metadata.
Don’t care but I don’t think a table would be a good fit.

Does artificial intelligence search the entire internet, all servers, all forums, to answer our questions?
If so, then AI has the largest database in the world.
