Display of seconds in the Windows 11 Clock reduces the battery

But so does light mode. Change to dark mode to reduce glare and how bright the monitor is driven. Will save more resources than the clock.

As to seconds, more time is wasted on all the background W11 bloat \ AI (Adverts Inserted) \ CoPilot \ OEM crap \ etc than displaying the time. I didn’t bother reading the article as it looks like clickbait as why would someone even bother checking that. (or enabling seconds)

Shock news - using resources more uses up battery resources quicker. :joy:

Battery saving tip - don’t turn laptop on.

The Edge browser has five search engines.

Do you know them all?

Like other browsers, it’s supposed to add your search engines progressively to this list as you are using them on their respective websites.

Personally I have been using duckduckgo as default search engine for years, even if they are unfortunately not updating their bangs (another example of broken bang that I have reported many many times in months but they will now never fix, update or add them any more).

Did you know that Edge browser can be installed on macOS and Linux?

No risk, no fun.

I use the discs from 3.5" hard disks for that. They are beautiful.

Turn them into a wind chime… all that reflection bonus on a sunny day.

Magnets out of that hard disk are pretty handy too.

Do you clean up TEMP files on Windows?

I use three steps:

  1. Settings ==> System ==> Storage ==> Temporary Files

  1. Disk Clean-up, cleanmgr.exe command

s2

  1. Manually empty the directories:

C:\Windows\Temp

C:\Users***\AppData\Local\Temp

Glenn Macdonald, who you might know for EveryNoise (the unofficial explorer for Spotify genres), was laid off from Spotify recently. A shame, as ridiculous as Spotify’s genres can get it was a pretty interesting look at how tastes and sounds were grouped together.

A quicker method… format c:

Oh - and for C:\Users***\AppData\Local\Temp type %TEMP% as it is less to type

You talking to me ?

I do this once every two/three months.

I set Windows like an automaton.

Format C: is the best antivirus.

This article is wild! Sounds like Spotify could have kept it running but decided not to.

Dear users

I would like to write about one more cleaning method/solution, because after formatting you can unformat/undelete.

I know, I know, it’s boring, but I’m a Geek, not a Greek.

Settings => System => Recovery => Restart new

or while holding down the Shift key, select Restart Windows.

I was unable to change the language to English, but the location and icons are the same in all languages.

When the black CMD window opens, enter the following commands:

diskpart
listdisk
select disk
clean

It’s OK now.

Now command “exit” twice, which can be used to close “diskpart” at any time and turn off the computer.

I put all the steps in one photo.

If you have any questions, feel free to write.

Furby and AI. What could possibly go wrong?

Use clean all for good measure.

When was the last time you pressed the Library button in the Microsoft Store?

The calculator continues to receive updates.
