Tag pre-processing (prior to lookup) possible?

Is it possible to create a plugin that can get the Discogs link for a release? I have files fully tagged up with MBIDs. And on the MB Release page is a link to the Discogs page. I’d like to add that to my music files. Is this kind of data available to a Picard Plugin?
