'Save' button greyed out

Hi, newbie here,

Learning the workings of Picard, I come across a situation where the ‘Save’ button is greyed out.
Am I doing something wrong here?

(1.4.0dev7, and yes, cleartype is off deliberately

The files in the left panel haven’t been matched to the loaded release in the right panel yet. Simply drag the cluster “Gaucho” to the release on the right.

Wow, that’s fast, thanks mfmeulenbelt!
I think I have some learning to do here.

You’re welcome.

I think Picard’s UI could use some improvements to make it clearer what’s going on as well, so it’s not just on your end. Luckily there’s quite a bit of development and thought being put into that aspect lately.

Yes, while most functionality seems logical when you get used to it, it can be difficult in the beginning.
E.g. to start with it would help if the left and right panes had a header to explain what they are.

I think this plus making people aware that you can drag and drop files bewtween the panels and items should make things much easier. Or is that not necessary @hiccup?

Yes, also more explanatory tooltips might be handy.
e.g. the tooltip for ‘Scan’ says ‘Scan’.
Great

But we are quickly drifting off-topic here.
I believe there are threads going on about improving user interface and experience.
I’ll see if I can possibly make some useful contribution there.

(perhaps a mod might want to close this thread since it is solved)
