Same release(s) different matrix or SID codes = new release?

I tried looking for an answer here but it was always very ambiguous. So I have 4 versions of Edguy - Theatre of Salvation:

3 from NEMS Enterprises and 1 from Icarus Music. No problem with the last one, and oen of the NEMS is made in Chile BUT the 2 other have different matrix, all pressed by Laser Disc Argentina:

Should this be considered a different version and add it with the Matrix info on the annotation field?

I’m asking because I have a lot of releases like this where the difference is one logo missing on the back, or different SIDs but everything else stays the same and I don’t want to waste my time or fill the release groups with duplicates.

I used Discogs first and then came to musicbrainz, so to ME they would be different releases.
But at the same time there are no “meaningful” differences on the tracklist, artwork, packaging, etc

I learned there is a System of a Down CD with 71 (!) variants in the CD matrix https://www.discogs.com/release/370466-System-Of-A-Down-Toxicity I don’t know if it’s useful to enter them all as different releases if, like you say, there are no meaningful differences on the tracklist or packaging.

I usually do not add multiple releases for SID codes and matrixes, but if someone else has found it important to differentiate releases then I leave them be.

My only ask is that the differences are clearly indicated in annotations/disambiguations.

But please note that a different logo, etc, on the packaging is always a different release in MusicBrainz (different artwork = different release).

Releases with different SIDs and Matrix codes tend to stay as one release. Similar to Discogs, that System of a Down Toxicty" Release is just one release. The split tends to happen when a different factory manufacturers the CD - usually quite a major difference in the matrix.

So to the OP’s question: - these are both the same release as they are the same factory pressing the CD. Unless something else changes on the external artwork.

I find the Discogs end of that a little confusing. Isn’t that the same factory? I think they may have a mistake on that side. As mastering and mould SIDs are the same on your two examples then they clearly came out of the same machines in the same factory.

This is always a different release. Even if just a price code change, then any visual artwork difference is a separate release.
