one of my big bug bears is when live recordings are linked to works and the date isn’t input, fixing this is a long and labourious task of editing each track and putting in the date.
Has anyone got a method for doing this quickly via a script or similar?

I used to have a way to Set selected works’ recording dates all at once, with TRACKLIST_TOOLS, but I’ve just remembered now that it has been broken, unfortunately.

As an editor of many live albums, here are some nice time saving @loujin scripts.
@loujin’s “Copy/remove dates on recording relations” script
I will set the Place and it’s date in the relationship editor. Then add the (undated) works. Now Hit SAVE and EXIT
Now return to the Relationship Editor and you can use the COPY DATE button to copy the dates from the Place to the Works. (and also performers, etc)
The important part of getting this script to work is to make sure you have already saved your data and come back to the relationship editor before running the script. It works from the SAVED data, not the Currently on the screen data.
Also notice “MusicBrainz relation editor: Set relation attributes”
Yes, this also sets the LIVE flags for you. Saving many clicks.
Bonus points “MusicBrainz relation editor: Guess related works in batch”. Sometimes I forget that not everyone knows of these scripts. This will one will take a guess at Works. It is kinda 80% accurate as it uses the janky MB search which can give some utterly bizarre results. (Try it on Dark Side of the Moon and someone explain to me why it picks Abba’s “Money Money Money” instead of Roger Waters’ “Money”… but that is a topic for another thread.
)
As long as you check all the output and correct the errors, it can save a lot of time.
