Question about collaboration

I stumbled upon this group - a collaboration between Herb Alpert & Lou Adler.

I was thinking this could be split into separate artists using artist credit, but I’m not entirely sure what the “proper” way would be (mostly, how to handle the “Legal Eagles” part of the name).

So: split, or keep it as it is ?

Don’t split. Leave it as it currently is. They are both already set as collaborators via relationships.

Yes, and the collaborators-way is the deprecated way, kinda (Old style: Collaborations)

I was looking at the examples given here - more precisely the 2010LP release.

Technically, we could split our group just like that, so it would be:

  • “Herb B.” (=Herb Alpert)
  • “[space]” (join phrase)
  • “Lou” (=Lou Adler)
  • “[space] and the Legal Eagles” (=last join phrase)

It’s just because “the Legal Eagles” isn’t an artist in itself, which makes it look weird. More toughts ?

Why are you trying to split? They are not separate artist. They are listed already as collaborators on the artist. It’s correct the way it currently is.

We don’t split just to make discographies more complete. It is complete. They are both listed as members of the group. We don’t split Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, for example, to make them part of Tom Petty’s discography. The only time we use separate artist are when they are maybe duo’s that aren’t an established group.
