Problem with 2 elvis presley songs

Morning all,

There are two different Elvis Presley songs linked to each other, and I dont know how to solve this problem. Its a mess.

I love you because: Original versions of I Love You Because by Elvis Presley | SecondHandSongs
Just because: Original versions of Just Because by Elvis Presley | SecondHandSongs

how do I clean this up?

can I please get 3 yes votes for this edit? Edit #104376155 - Remove recording alias

Can some one help?

thanks

Tis

What a mess, it looks like it’s a result of a bad merge (that people voted “yes” on ???), but it’s difficult to say which one of the many recent merges it was.

Unfortunately you have to edit each release (either the releases that has “Just Because” or the releases that has “I Love You Because”) and manually link the track with the correct recording in the “recordings” tab in the release editor. It looks like it’s roughly 100 releases so it will take forever to do. The recording was originally added as “Just Because”, so changing the releases that have “I Love You Because” might be the way forward, but to be honest either works as it’s a complete mess at the moment with acoustids that now are linked to the wrong recording, incorrect relationships, etc.

Ty for your answer. I think I leave this up to some one with a bigger brain

There is also the loss of all the edit history for whichever recording is split away back to a fresh recording.

What makes this bizarre is how so many compilations actually have BOTH of these recordings on them. You can see the pattern when you look down the list of releases.

I don’t know enough Elvis to sort this out. If a new “I Love You Because” was created then a set of AcoustIDs for that track will need attaching ASAP so they can be split away from “Just Because” otherwise this will rapidly become much worse.
