Plugins for conversion to v3 request

Hi Team,

I have read that a small team of hard working volunteers contacting the relevant authors / are converting v2 plugins for v3 on request. If I could make a small request for the two following plugins to be converted for v3 that would be greatly appreciated. Of course I only request this if it’s not a huge undertaking. Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful project.

AcousticBrainz Tags

Album Artist Website

Kind regards

Aaron

Since the AcousticBrainz project itself is no longer developed since 2022 the corresponding plugins will also not be officially ported and won’t be included in the plugin official registry. Of course, that doesn’t stop anyone else from porting the plugins and providing a v3 plugin for it. SO if somebody feels like porting and maintaining an AB plugin, please do so.

The functionality of the Artist Website plugin probably should be included in the existing Additional Artist Details plugin instead, as that already handles loading additional artist information.

I’ll take a look and see if I can incorporate this into “Additional Artists Details”.

I have now incorporated the artist website information into the “Additional Artists Details” plugin. It isn’t exactly a drop-in replacement because it provides the information in the form of multi-value variables for both the artists (%_aad_artists_websites%) and albumartists (%_aad_albumartists_websites%). This way you can extract out whatever you like and save it to a tag name of your choice using a tagging script.

Please see the plugin’s documentation for more information.

If someone could convert “Remove Perfect Albums” would be much appreciated, used that one all the time in v2

I just finished writing a replacement plugin (Remove Matched Albums) to provide the functionality for Picard 3. I’ve submitted a request to have it included in the main Picard plugin registry, but until that’s processed it can be installed from my repo on GitHub.

Although the functionality is the same as the old plugin, it is activated a bit differently. I chose to add it as an action under the “Plugin Tools” section of Picard’s main menu, rather than in the context menu. This way you don’t have to select all of the albums before running the plugin (it will automatically check all loaded albums), and it is fewer clicks to start the process. It also provides feedback when there were no matching albums to remove.

The documentation is also available on-line.

Thanks, much appreciated.

I like the alternative way it’s been implemented, much easier to use

If someone could convert ‘Release Type’. Thank you.

It looks pretty straightforward. I’ll try to work on it over the weekend.

Release Type and Feat. Artists in Titles are the two v2 plugins that I’m missing the most because those were integral to my tagging. Decode Cyrillic and Decode Cyrillic Greek would be nice too. Thanks in advance.

Add to collection doesn’t appear to work correctly for me. I’d be eternally grateful if someone could get this gem of a plugin working in 3.0. Thank you kindly.

Seems all I needed to do was hard close the program and try again. False alarm!

I’m pretty sure this can be handled using tagger scripts without needing a plugin. See Scripts — MusicBrainz Picard v3.0 documentation and Scripts — MusicBrainz Picard v3.0 documentation for an example.
