Picard has quit tagging properly

MusicBrainz Picard

After working flawlessly, Picard is no longer putting in all the tag info. It is dropping everything but the Artist and “flac” from the tags. I have reinstalled Picard several times using both 1.32 and the latest dev app. Here is a screen shot of the last debug. Anyone have a clue? Thanks!!

Can you try without rename script ?

I have tried with the default script and an alternative script from the “Bradley’s”. The result is the same. I have tried several variables in scripting, tagging, & plug-in’s, I use EAC to create flac. I have reinstalled EAC in case it had problems, I have tried 4 different albums. I am windows 7/86 with all updates. After getting a gold disc in the right hand page, I check the tag info for each track and the album info and everything looks ok. When I save the album and check the receiving folder the only info I see is the artist name followed by about 10 spaces then a dot (.) more spaces and flac. No other info. If I play a track (with Winamp), and “view file info” I only see the artist name & flac.

This filename is prolly per-user config, Picard doesn’t name files like this per default.
Or it is a plugin.

Okay Zas, I will uninstall and install Picard again using all defaults. (I have done this twice already). Maybe 3rd time will be a charm.

Maybe check whether uninstalling also removes the settings file? If you just uninstall and the settings file is left on the system then your reinstall will just pick up the old settings and continue to use those.

Yes, I have checked the box to remove settings. Below is what shows up on my View Error report without even trying to check the Debug box.

I don’t think this has any effect on the tagging, but you have a bunch of plugins installed that don’t work. Maybe try to also remove all plugins and try again.

I manually went to my download files and deleted the plugins and folder. I have unchecked all the plugins. Using windows control panel-programs-uninstall, I uninstalled Picard, rebooted and installed latest Dev app. I get the same results as per my initial posted problem.

Is there something else I need to remove Picard in it’s entirety that uninstall might be missing? Again, I am only a few days away from your next updated release so I will be content with adding cover art and minor editing. (Editors, you can delete this complete post as it appears the problem is mine alone. If after the next update I continue to have this problem I will ask for help.)

Unfortunately, the errors about importing plugins are currently expected with the windows installer and has been reported as PICARD-962. I’m not sure if that should cause any problems during saving, though.

My initial problem continued with the latest version of MBPicard. I was running the script by PIZ (repository for cool scripting in forums). After beating my head against the wall I found a solution.

On my computer running win/10 with the identical settings in Picard as my win/7, everything is great. Sooo I loaded and reloaded the PIZ script many times to my win/7 (C & P from the forum). I finally noticed that when I pasted in the script, the “example” displayed at the bottom of my script box was not displaying what was showing on my windows/10 machine.

I copied the tagging script on my win/10 to notepad, put it on a memory stick, transferred the script to notepad on my win/7 machine then pasted it into the file naming box. Guess what? That fixed it. Maybe the script in the forum has gotten corrupted or for some still unexplained reason something else is going on which caused the script to stop working. That still doesn’t explain why the other scripts would not run properly.

I am one perplexed (but up and running) Llama lover.
