Overwrite cover only when existing is smaller

Hello,

I think it would make sense to have an option to overwrite an existing cover only when the newly found is larger (in terms of picture size or file size).

Or is this already possible?

Thanks!

You’re not the only one. In fact, the ticket for tracking this feature request has 35(!) votes as of this writing:

Oops. (See @chirlu’s comment.) :innocent:

I think, based on this being in the Picard section, that it might be a different thing: Picard replacing embedded cover art in files only where it increases the resolution.

Yes, I was talking about the local cover art (embedded or saved as file).

At first I thought ‘would this discourage users from uploading their bigger version to MB?’
But I guess if they’re overwriting all their better art there’s no chance of this happening anyway.

So if this was implemented, with something like:

Obviously this would take some more noodling out, as we’re going to get 10,000 incorrect submissions if that just links to the submit art page without any other info, but something similar would actually be pretty useful for the database too.
