Is there any way to recover [http://forums.musicbrainz.org/viewtopic.php?id=6167](http://forums.musicbrainz.org/viewtopic.php?id=6167)
This is my old VM setup guide. Yes I asked before, but it’s been a few years since the migration so maybe someone archived the old server forum data…
Is the old forum resting along the pre-paleolithic period?

Pretty much, from what I gather. IIRC all the old forum data was lost in a server migration or something like that.
I would normally suggest checking the Wayback Machine to see if that thread was mirrored there, but [it doesn’t look like they have it](https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://forums.musicbrainz.org/viewtopic.php?id=6167), unfortunately.

Last I heard there was plans to bring it back/allow access? Did I miss this changing?
I love Musicbrainz but the lack of policy around this kind of thing really gets me. Updates etc, yes it’s volunteer driven and nothing can be promised, but surely things like losing a whole forum can have some kind of higher level responsibility or plan assigned.

That’s also something I have heard somewhere, AFAIK the plan was to bring the old forums back at some point, but then something bad happened to the backups.
@rob: Is this about right or just me getting things mixed up?
