New release for retailer exclusive?

Hello! I’ve got a copy of “The Great Divide” by Noah Kahan on CD that I’m trying to associate with the correct MusicBrainz release. The media/tracklist seems to perfectly match existing release UUID 5d1f0c3e-6deb-4db6-b12f-622d5ebc4c0a, but the barcode is different. That release has (Target Exclusive) in the title, whereas my copy was purchased from Sunrise Records in Canada–based on the retailer’s website, I’m guessing this is effectively the same release as the Target one, but in Canada. I was planning on creating a new release that’s identical to the Target one, except with (Sunrise Records Exclusive) in the title–does that seem right?

As it physically visually differs, different barcode at least, then, yes, it’s a new MB release.:+1:

it would be great to have a relationship field with an exclusive retailer information

What would be the entity type of the retailer(s)?
Label? Place?

Place I guess, let’s say Target. It will have it’s own page will all target exclusive releases. It can have Date period also.

But is it correct to say that website is a “place” ?

Maybe a new entity type can be created since exclusive sales can be at the tour, live event, website, physical store etc. or all os those can be a different types of Places

There is a series for the “Target Exclusive” releases. Maybe some of those can guide you.

It’s a bandiad, Target Exclusive is not a series it’s workaround to preserve information in absense of exclusive retailer implementation

Discogs has retailers as labels and uses an “exclusive retailer” relationship to link them to releases.
