Need help with editor adding releases wrong

I got a notification about one of my monitored artists and found the editor was crediting the track with the work credit. These are mostly gospel and they are not classical. I fixed Release “Refuge” by The Brad Dalton Family - MusicBrainz and then started looking at the other releases the editor had added, there are a lot (maybe most) added wrong. Release “Committed to the Commission” by Faithway Baptist Church and College of Canada - MusicBrainz lists the track credits as unknown when the added album art clearly shows what group performed on the track. The editor has added 87 releases and I have only checked a few with most being wrong. I have just sent two PM, the first about the edits I made on the first release I edited and a second when I realized the scope of the problem asking them to stop adding releases until they have read the style guides. They are not a beginner, and I have not looked at the earlier releases, its late and I need other eyes and mentors on this. I just think they do not understand.

Edit: The editor responded, they were not sure what to do, they have added great artwork. If they can get some eyes on what they need to do to fix things it would be great.

User in question here! I would defintely say I’m still a beginner, but I have simply done this for so long, and no one has corrected me. Props to dashv for noticing and taking action!!

From here on out, I will take greater care when I am adding my releases. Having others to spot check my work and see where I’m doing things wrong will be awesome.

I will also be working to clean up my previous releases. Most of them are pretty bad in terms of crediting, I realize…

Again, many thanks to dashv for noticing! I’m very grateful people are looking to uphold established standards.

welcome to the forums, @Infinite_Bed! great name, btw, lol

the forums are a good place to ask questions or for input on edits, or you can also ask in the official Matrix/IRC chats or the (un)official Discord (which is bridged to Matrix/IRC). you can find those under the Chat link at the bottom of the MusicBrainz website (or here)

if you generally know what you’re looking for tho, the docs are often helpful too. you can search them from the main search box too, just select Documentation here:

Friendly note that the “Script” should generally be set to “Latin” for albums in English, rather than “Arabic”. It’s understandably confusing because English uses “Arabic numerals”, but that’s different from “Arabic script”.

Thanks, I was focusing of fixing the artist track and work credits. I fixed one more release but will look things over more carefully as I try to get more done. Must admit that when I was a newbie long ago I think I did the same thing , something about being taught in school that our alphabet decided from Arabic . I will pass it along. (Oh, and please don’t go back and look at my early edits.)

Could someone that does Audiobooks look at these

Not sure of the problem? I assume the chapter names are from the back of the release. (I only looked at three of them)

I just do not know the format. I have been going through all the editors releases and fixing what I can. If it looks OK that’s fine.
