Let Go / 展翅高飛 has multiple languages throughout most of the tracklist, but I don’t see a release like that on other digital media platforms. Should this be separate release? Or should it just be a normal digital release from the same RG that matches the cover art, label, and ℗, but not the title or tracklist?
She’s So Unusual track 2 and Hot Pink track 5 look like they might be similar, but I haven’t looked closely yet.
The question for me is whether this is a separate release, or just an existing release where the distributor added release and title names in a second language. Is it worth adding a MusicBrainz Release entry for an unofficial distributor modification to an official release?
The second language names seem to be Japanese, but they differ from the Japanese-language names on the obi of release/5af5, the 2002 Japan release. Thus I don’t think the distributor is passing through that Japanese release’s names.
For simple automated modifications, like Title Casing or converting " feat. " to " & ", I think no. That seems more like a choice by the platform of how to present a release, rather than a new release. Similar to a physical store adding anti-tamper stickers and only accepting returns if the stickers are still in place.
Adding a translation to a specific release, or maybe merging two releases in different languages, seems different enough that I think a separate release does make sense?
On the other hand, using machine translation for all releases that aren’t in the UI’s language seems more like a UI feature than a new release to me. That doesn’t seem to be what Freegal is doing though.
So I guess I’d lean towards making it a new release, but I really don’t know.
